Keijo (競女) is an aquatic fighting sport where the players are forbidden to use their limbs and only allowed to use their hips and chests to fight. However the players are freed to land their attacks to any body parts of their opponents, including the face and vital points. By law in 2003 Keijo became a sport that allows for gambling alongside horse racing, boat racing, and cycling. Fundamentally it is just like Sumo, where the players have to make their opponents out of the arena, or to make their opponents unable to continue the fight. The matches in Keijo might look entertain, in fact it's a dangerous physical competition with the risk of injury and incident.

Land

Keijo is held in a floathing arena called Land (ランド, Rando), there are so many types of lands with different features.

Keijo Rules

  • Usually six players will race together. (there are exceptions)
  • The players only allowed to attack their opponents with both of chests and hips, using another limbs are not allowed. (however using the hands and legs to their own body are acceptable)
  • Falling from the land, or falling down to the land and unable to continue are counted as a loss.
  • Illegal maneuvers, for instance using other limbs like hands and legs to attack the opponents, will end with a ban, a professional player will be banned for a half year in official race after 2 incidents.
  • The race rankings are decided on sinking other players.
  • The last person standing on the land is the winner.
  • The time limit is 5 minutes. (there are exceptions)

Team Match

There are slighty difference with the rules for team matches.

  • Teamed up each others and usually fight in 4 vs 4.
  • There are no race rankings.
  • The team who loses all of their players is the loser.
  • If the time limit has reached before the race end, the remaining players will be ranked by points, based on how many opponents they have sunk.
  • Illegal maneuvers will end with the team responsibility, and the team will lose the entire race.

Becoming a Keijo Player

To become a player, girls who are interested with Keijo must enrolled into a Keijo training school, once they accepted and became official students, they will learn everything related to Keijo.

Entering a Keijo School

However it's not easy to enter a Keijo school, they have to take the exams which held by the school to eliminate them.

Fighting Style

Player types or fighting styles in Keijo are divided into 3 types.

In-Fighter

The close range fighters that mainly focused on power are called In-Fighters (インファイター, Infaitā).

Out-Fighter

The hit and run fighters that focused on speed and strategist are called Out-Fighters (アウトファイター, Autofaitā).

Counter

Fighters that utilized their opponent's strength to convert it into their own attack are called Counters (カウンタ, Kaunta).

Keijo Engineer

Keijo training schools also opened for boys who are interested with Keijo to become a Keijo Engineer (競女技師, Keijo Gishi), it is a position in charge of developing, maintaining, delivering the equipments, and designing the lands and races.
